Dave Partridge: Well, Portugal got everything east of the line, Spain everything west originally. I guess it just depends on how fast you go around from there as to who gets the bigger chunk of the world! Konrad Baumeister: Paul, I sure hope that you are back in David's good graces now. Hard to think what else you might have to do. Is there anything else you need me to do to help? Paul Rauterberg: Dave may still harbor a few grudges over Afg and Lou.... Tee hee. I was just going to hit Ghana to cut support for Tbk; who would have thought that I'd actually sail right in (plus get Tbk). I expected that you'd have tried for Bahia (or Brazil, if I would have been able to move it to Arg). Well, you got Azores for now, anyway. You are trespassing in Leon; are you sure that you want to piss Portugal off? Who could have guessed that Portugal would be in THE LEAD after 3 game years? I have always scorned that dippy little power.... I am not angry with you for covering Manchuria. China is getting more builds that it has room for, anyway. Dave Partridge: I'd just like to take this moment to formally thank both of you for removing the distractions of North America from my mind. You will all note how I cleverly arranged to have my units destroyed so that even as I lost centers all over the place I'd be able to build this season. That's Planning with a capitol P! So, this being a broadcast press game, I guess it is time to point out that the total center counts are: Konrad: 38 Paul: 50 Dave: 40 I'm as surprised as the rest of you that I'm ahead of Konrad in this respect. However, it is obvious that the little guys need to stop chewing on each other (<:. Since Konrad has kindly eliminated my European land forces as well as my North American expedition, this should be fairly easy! Konrad Baumeister: Ah, this is how the public negotiation stuff is handled - just call it press! Dave, I know how you must have felt about being relieved of North America. Already in the short time I've had a piece of it, I feel the weight of responsibiltiy weighing down on my shoulders, and long to be relieved of it. Luckily, it looks as though this may occur soon. Likewise, the enormous obligations created by ruling parts of west Africa begin to tire, the thrill begins to pale, and I have to look around to see if someone else might not be willing to assume the duties involved. Given the easy availability of the remaining neutrals for Paul's group, the weakness of my own North American and east Russian holdings and the general African position, likely Paul will have 60 centers by end of next year, and through trading colonies can strengthen one power (Portugal?) at the expense of the others will get pretty close to outright victory rather soon. Contrary to Paul's wondering about the strength of Portugal, when it's combined with the security and colonial proximity of Spain, it (or they) can become the dominant two-nation bloc. Obviously by having the two minor blocs cease their conflict more can be done, but in many areas it's just too little, too late. Nonetheless, I'm willing to give it my own best effort. There are still possibilities in South America and Oceania, and in Africa a stalemate should be achieveable. My builds, well, and removals, yuk, are in.
